Owner, Bailly Vineyards
Nan has been the winemaker at Alexis Bailly Vineyard for 30 years, starting with her apprenticeship in the Loire Valley in France where she first learned her craft. Her winemaking experiences have been honed by stints in the Cotes du Rhone of southern France and in the Finger Lakes of upstate New York, all leading back to Minnesota where she carries on the romantic notion of making wines in the world’s most difficult wine making region.
Her interest in invasive species is continually inpired by my experience as a farmer growing wine grapes on a farm outside of Hastings, MN. Working in agriculture has allowed her a closer look at the impact of climate change both in the microclimate of my farm and the broader impact in nature around and increased her awareness for the immense responsibility to safeguard our natural resources.
