Details

MITPPC administers a competitive grant program supported by the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by the Legislative-Citizen Commission for Minnesota Resources. This year, we are administering $3.75 million for grants up to $150,000 per year for 4 years. Projects would start in January, 2025. Proposals must address one or more priority terrestrial invasive species and one or more research themes.

For 2024, there are more species eligible for research than in past years. This is a result of a proposed increase in future funding to MITPPC and the growing list of species in our ranking analysis. We expanded the number of top ranked plants, plant pathogens, and invertebrates from 15 in each taxa to the top 30% in each group. As in previous years, some taxa encompass more than one species or subspecies.

We encourage principal investigators to collaborate across disciplines and to develop partnerships with academic, local, state, federal, and tribal governments, and private institutions. MITPPC is driven to discover practical, applicable solutions to terrestrial invasive species issues, and external partnerships are integral to that goal.
